This is a collection of items, articles, objects, etc. that are simply profound in their own nature. This will be a various collection of entities and ideas, most likely created by someone other than me. But, because of their profundity, it is only right that they find a place to live for awhile and insprire others. Welcome to Shock & Awe, the DMTMIND way!
SRI YANTRA
The following graphic is a representation of the SRI YANTRA which as been used as a visual meditative aid for many thousands of years, and for most of society up until recent times we have seen it only as a graphic image, which while interesting, never seemed to be anything more than that.
In the 1960s and '70s Swiss engineer and medical doctor Hans Jenny performed experiments using sound frequencies on various materials such as water, sand, dust, liquid plastic and milk.
Dr Jenny placed the material on a metal plate attached to a crystal oscillator which was controlled by a frequency generator capable of producing a wide range of vibrations. He then filmed and photographed what happened on the plate.
He coined the term Cymatics (the study of wave-form phenomena), which is derived from the Greek 'kyma' meaning 'wave', and 'ta kymatica' meaning 'matters pertaining to waves'.
The device which had a large metal platform that he could attach a waveform or frequency generator, and cause the platform to vibrate at whatever tone was inputted into it.
At the center of the platform was a small hole that was large enough to allow a laser light to shine up through from below, but small enough so that a water droplet place on the hole, would not fall through... therefore as he vibrated the platform, he would shine the laser up through the hole and waterdroplet and photograph the resultant patterns from above.
The waveform generator produced some very interesting 'spiralgraph' like images, all very pretty, but not necessarily awe inspiring. (ok... they are awe inspiring, but not as awe inspiring as...)
Then he got inspired... and he connected a microphone to the platform, and said the word "AUM" (or OM)... to his surprize, the pattern that came through the water droplet was the SRI YANTRA itself. The SRI YANTRA is the physical manifestation of the actual word "AUM"!!!
PYTHAGOREAN GUITAR
While most people do understand that there is a connection between math and music, the concept of the pythagorean guitar brings that idea closer to home. The famous pythagorean formula for right angle triangles is A2 + B2 = C2 and is the basis of what we know as the 3, 4, 5 triangle.
If you take a piece of wood and draw a 3, 4, 5 triangle on it, and then hammer a nail at each of the vertexs of the triangle and then mount a guitar string on the board and wrap it around all 3 nails and then re-attached back to the wood board with a way to tighten the string...
...then by tightening the string until the hypotenuse of the triangle, or 5 side, is at note G; the the 4 side of the triangle will be tuned to note B above the G; and the 3 side of the triangle will be note E above the B... these 3 notes, G, B, E form the Em chord (minor chords being the most popular in all the world)... and are the top 3 strings on a standard tuned guitar, so what this says is that the top (highest sounding) 3 strings on the guitar are tuned to the notes that form a 3, 4, 5 triangle... and I call this concept Pythagorean's Guitar.

STRING THEORY
String Theory is the lastest in the advanced physics fields. It actually began many years ago, but was not recognized and popular until recently. The concept is simple: Matter is made from atoms; Atoms are made from Protons, Neutrons, and Electrons; They in turn are made from quarks; Quarks are made from various quantum physics subparticles; Subparticles are made from various combination of tiny pieces of vibrating energy called strings.
The mathematics that are coming from this discipline is showing tremendous promise and has opened the door to many fascinating aspects of time, space and matter, that we had not seriously considered before.
While the concept is simple, the application of these concepts can be very complex, since the deepest most important calculations that are derived from this idea require mathematics that define 10 dimensions of space and 1 dimension of time; 11 dimensions total. Further, as string theory developed, there arrived in the science arena 5 different versions; each with their own set of equations.
This was confusing at first, until it was discovered that the 5 different versions were actually the same theory as viewed from 5 different perpectives. The combination of all 5 versions is now called M-Theory (no known definition of 'M'). This higher defined construct of string theory predicts many strange higher order time/space/matter constructs which are now being debated in the Scientific community.
Moreover, even though this theory holds great promise towards a more complete understanding of our universe(s), the size of a single string is so infinitely small that they cannot be detected by any existing scientific equipment, nor any equipment currently in design or development.
That creates a problem since the basis of scientific inquiry is the ability to provide definite and repeatable experiments before it can be classified as a true science. For now, that leaves string theory in the realm of philosophy (or something not provable by scientific means) rather than a science. It is hoped, at sometime in the future of the human race, that we will be able to view or develop true evidence regarding these tiny piece of vibrating strings. But lack of evidence of their existence does not negate the validity of the mathematical equations and the profoud implications that this discipline brings to our collective human understanding.
Currently the existing particle accelerators and those under construction will focus on trying to find what is called 'super symmetry' which is predicted in the Quantum Physics Standard Model of subparticles. The discovery of super symmetry will bring us a giant leap forward towards the evidence required, that would more readily validate that these strings really do exist.
The newest particle accerator will have much more power than its current competitors, but will complete construction for a year or two more. It is believed that the experiments that will come from this newest particle accelerator complex will be the best candidate capable of finding evidence of super symmetry.

I think I may have an idea why I sometimes have problems with my computer! LOL

Space Perpectives
Wow.... I got these images in an email (original source unknown), but I rearranged them and added some text for description.... It is hard to imagine the size of space, but these cosmic object comparisons really drive the message home.... we are but a speck against the tapestry of the universe!!
APOPHIS the ASTEROID
THIS IS REAL!!!! Scientist already know that there is an asteroid that is currently heading towards earth which they have named 'Apophis' (egyptian god of darkness and evil)... it is the size of the Rose Bowl, and it is scheduled to pass within earths atmosphere in the year 2029. Because it will be so close (within the artificial satellite range), the gravity of earth will whip it around and then shoot it off into space again, BUT, they have calculated a position in space which they are calling the 'keyhole'... In April of 2029, when the asteroid Apophis swings around the earth, IF it passes through the keyhole, then it is guaranteed to collide with the earth, head-on, in the year 2036...
If Apophis were to hit land, it would create a crater 100 to 300 miles wide and have a force of a thousand nuclear bombs. Current calculations, however, predict that it will land in the Pacific ocean which will cause 3 1/2 hours of non-stop tsunami waves greater than 55 feet in height along the Pacific coast from Alaska to the Panamal Canal. So, with these calculations, then that means, that if it passes through the keyhole, then it won't matter if social security runs out of money in 2060, or if all the fish are gone from the oceans in 2048, because we will have already been exterminated 12 years earlier in the year 2036 by an extermination level encounter with a rogue asteroid named Apophis.
